Lexolo is being photographed for the book ‘Pak Aan!’ by photographer Peter Vroon and author Reinier Groenendijk. The idea of the book is that well-known people from the town of Apeldoorn are being pictured as their ‘alter ego’, the person they’d like to be for a while. Lexolo was asked, and of course he’d wanted to be photographed like his hero Frank Zappa … watch the pictures below.

I made some crappy shots from the book, so this is not the official picture. Go see the exhibition of all the pictures in ‘Coda’, Apeldoorn and you’ll be stunned. And if you’re wondering who supplied the rubber chicken …

The Bottles and The FoolZ both performed on the Cultuurnacht in Houten, a small festival. The Bottles played for 45 minutes in restaurant ‘De Roskam’ and The FoolZ played for an hour in ‘De Suite’.

Lex performed solo in Art Café ‘Sam Sam’ and played a variety of tunes and styles. Bruno Rombout assisted on accordeon in the last two sets, where we even got a few Zappa tunes!

Road Ladies (Frank Zappa)

The Bottles is one of the 12.354 bands that Lex plays in, besides The FoolZ. This Sunday afternoon, The Bottles performed at the opening of an exhibition in art café ‘Sam Sam’ in Apeldoorn. Their repertoire consisted of mainly Beatles tunes. Besides that we got early white blues (John Mayall stuff), Everly Brothers and even a Frank Zappa request! (Guess who did the request!)

Road Ladies

Zondagmiddag 6 januari in café ‘Sam Sam’. In het nieuwe zaaltje ‘Het Kerkje’ speelt Dragisha klezmer, romana, zigeunermuziek, Amerikaanse swing en allerlei andere fantastische muziek. Zo mooi als de muziek was, zo slecht was het licht en dus ook de foto’s.

Sunday afternoon, January 6 in Café ‘Sam Sam’. Dragisha plays klezmer, romana, gypsy, American swing and lots of other great music. The music was very good, but the light onstage was terrible, and so are the pictures.
